**** This tank will fit on the 1980 IT425 with the following modifications.*****
- Grind down the MONO SHOCK
- Add twice the Tank Padding #1342
- Enlarge the Front Mount Hole

Does not fit 78-80 IT400 as advertised. 77-79 IT400s had the same fuel tanks (OEM part # 1W6-24110-00-00). In 1980 Yamaha did not make an IT400, instead they made IT425 which kept the same fuel tank from previous years. The tank I received looked like it was made from quality plastic but didn’t fit my IT400 frame. The brackets where the tank attaches to the frame are different. Had to return the tank and pay 20% restocking fee and shipping costs back to Clarke.

I fitted this to my 78 IT250 and it worked fine …..Not sure what the other review is all about this tank does not use the stock mounting hardware you will need a piece of threaded rod that fits in a existing hole through the frame I used 6mm and a few washers and nuts along with some foam padding to take up the gap between the frame and the tank in the rear where the rubber strap attaches. its big its a blob but its blue or white and it hold gas better than a 45 year old tank that can crack and leak and start a fire.
